It will be possible to fly between Nur-Sultan and Almaty without paper passports and certificates. The digital document service has been launched as a pilot project at the airports of Nur-Sultan and Almaty, with reference to the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
“Passengers departing on regular flights of Air Astana between the two cities can present an electronic identity card via the eGov Mobile app to confirm their personal data,” the KSA said.
Passengers using the digital document service must show the QR code generated by the eGov Mobile app when checking in at the airport check-in desk, as well as during the pre-flight inspection. Nursultan Nazarbayev Airport has developed the E-document software for reading the QR code generated by the digital documents service on eGov Mobile.
“It is expected that the digital document service will be introduced in all airports of the Republic of Kazakhstan during the current year. Due to the fact that the project is being launched in a pilot mode at airports, passengers who plan to use the digital service are recommended to have the original identity card with them,” the ministry concluded.
The work on the introduction of the digital document service in air transport is carried out in order to fulfill the instructions of the Head of State on digitalization of the processes of providing identity cards within the framework of the Address to the People of Kazakhstan dated September 1, 2020 by the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan together with the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry, JSC “Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan”, airlines and airports of the Republic of Kazakhstan and JSC “NIT”.
